It has been almost 20 years of the last time that I stayed in Cozumel, I was really anxious to re-discover this island of the Mexican Caribbean.
From Playa del Carmen I took the ferry that takes about 35 minutes, from the port to the hotel it takes 5 minutes maximum, Rogelio was already waiting for me to take me to the hotel.
This hotel was renewed, it used to have de name Fontana. Now transformed in a Boutique Hotel B Cozumel has many attractions.
Just arriving to the hotel you can notice the purity of the concept. White and aqua, the main colors, with a minimalist look with typical Mexican details and retro details.
Arriving to the reception I was welcomed by César with a cool towel and Peter with a refreshing beverage of pineapple and mint. The check – in was on a small living room at the lobby from where you can enjoy the marvelous view.
After I was shown my room, a white room with some fantastic details; on the bed a fabric path Mexican pink color and on the top an embroider path from Hidalgo in blue tone. A pair of chairs of plastic knitted and the most spectacular is the view from the terrace from where you can enjoy it.
After installing myself I went to dinner to costeñito Bistro with Beatriz, the general manager of B Cozumel, who told me a little bit more of the concept. One of the strategies that Beatriz has design to promote the art crafts through workshops that are realized outside of the hotel where the craftsman get to know a modern artists, sharing with the guests where everyone, including the artists can learn something new of art.
Getting back to dinner, we start with a strawberry mojito, very refreshing; I have to confess that the menu is spectacular, simple dishes but very well elaborated and think for the area where they are offered. We shared entrees at the center, breaded calamari, signature ceviche and my favorite tuna tartar, if you visit them you have to try it. As a main course black butter mahi mahi with Rosemary and alcaparras. For the gran finale Miguel our waiter prepared us the dessert at the table, banana flambé Cozumel style.
The restaurant has a decoration mostly in white, with details in aqua, blue and red that it is enhance in their chairs and embroiders from Hidalgo that covers the walls, as well as the typicall yucatan floors of pasta and colorful borders.
After I went to sleep , the bed was really comfortable. First thing in the morning to prepare myself a coffee in the room. The amenities are organic, the soaps are fantastic made of oatmeal, the shampoo and the conditioner are of honey.
I had breakfast with Beatriz, I chose a vegetarian omelette with goat cheese and a B5 juice. After we took a tour on the rooms, they are decorated on the same style, however the details of the living room area and Mexican decorations are the ones that change; of course the view takes the breath away.
It counts also with a couple of decks ideal for yoga lessons or a massage. The services of spa that they offered are awesome as they are focus on helping you healing yourself in several levels, do not forget to ask for the aquassage (Yes! Massage in the water!)
We recommend you to take your snorkel equipment as just a few steps from the shore you will start to enjoy the marvels of the sea.
Cozumel is an amazing place to discover, it is a destiny reach in culture and ecology, Beatriz has prepared for their clients a list of recomendattions! Also you can request bikes at the front desk and make tours on the island.
With this pool that states “Just Be!” how could I not enjoy it and make honor to the sentence. It has two sections and it is also perfect to take some cocktails as it has some benches ideal for this. Afterwards to the Jacuzzi and to complete the therapy, after you will have to come down from the stairs to the sea!
For the lunch menu that you can take by the pool or in the restaurant and it has an incredible variety of ceviches, chapatas (sandwiches and the classics).
A travel with your beloved one, friends and family this hotel has something for everyone!
